In early 2013 a new exhibit featuring the work of four artists using wool as the medium will open at the Museum. The “Sheep to Shawl,” exhibit is described on the Director page in detail. As a theme for our Holiday Open House and Annual Sale, Saturday, December 1st from 9-noon, our décor will celebrate this centuries old fiber and its many uses in practical as well as artistic presentations. Come expecting to see the tree in all of its glory. Collection pieces of historical significance honoring sheep and wool as an industry and as a part of history will be featured. Our tree will include hand-dyed balls of wool. This annual open house and sale always include sought after baked goods and food items, unique and hand selected or created auction items and a wonderful reception hosted by the SCHS High Tea Heroines!
A very special demonstration display will be featured with Susan Baldry, weaver and artist using wool. Susan lives near Wheaton and has expressed her artistic abilities in both knitting and weaving. She has been weaving since 1980 using a rigid-huddle loom. Susan will be on site from 9:30 – 11:30 AM demonstrating use of her loom and some of the pieces she has designed and created.
We look forward to sharing our best wishes for your Holiday traditions as you join us for the Open House and Holiday Sale on Saturday, December 1st.
